This is when it all went bad for the state of NY in Hip-Hop. When Tha Dogg Pound dropped this video, “New York, New York”, and Snoop kicked over the buildings…it was a wrap! No one had seen New York get disrespected on this level before. It showed that New York Hip-Hop wasn’t untouchable and this started the decline in NY Hip-Hop. I really don’t think it ever recovered either. There has been flashes (Hov, DMX, and maybe even 50) but that was it. So here’s to NY getting their ball took and not ever getting it back!
