Put your pitchforks down and hear me out for a minute. Ross should get a pass. Why? In this age of the internet, everyone is under scrutiny. When those pictures surfaced of him as a C.O. and he denied it in the beginning, it was only a matter of time before the REAL truth was revealed. Now that Ross has came out and admitted that was indeed him in those photos, we as the Hip-Hop public must forgive him and give him that pass. If the internet was as prevalent in the 90’s as it is today, some of Hip-Hop’s history books would have to be rewrote. Biggie would have gotten exposed as a fraud. We know that Big didn’t live the life that he rapped about, but we accepted it. Why can’t we do the same for Ross? We are a forgiving nation, but in Hip-Hop we NEVER forgive. We would be surprised to find out what some of our favorite artists used to do before they got into the game. I’m sure most of them held down REAL 9 to 5’s like the rest of the general public. So why should we look at Ross differently because he wasn’t this “Boss” like he rapped about on his first two albums?
I have been doing some research and found out what some of our favorite artists used to do before they were rappers. Check out the list.
Nas – Pushed carts at Wal-Mart
Jay-Z – Delivered pizzas for Pizza Hut
Master P – Substitute School Teacher
Method Man – Worked at a Chinese buffet
Redman – Worked at Taco Bell
Too Short – Worked at a Howard Johnson
50 Cent – Worked at the Hospital
Eminem – Worked at Spencer’s
See, according to my sources, this is evidence that rappers WERE regular people before they became celebrities. So Ross having a regular job deserves the man a PASS.
