The Central Park Five story in 1989 was disgusting, vicious, and unforgettable. A white woman was jogging in one section of New York City’s famed Central Park one night and was brutally raped and nearly beaten to death. In another section of the park, Black and Latino teenagers from the nearby borough of Harlem were children hanging out . Days later, five teenagers were labeled as monsters that were “wilding”.
So much hatred was placed on these wrongfully accused five young men that a future President of the United States placed a plea for the state of New York to bring the death penalty back for this particular case. On May 31st, their story will be shared.
