Back at it again with another Notable Tracks post—where I pick three tracks I’ve been listening to lately and share my thoughts. This one’s a brief edition, but it’s still a good one.
Since I have some space here, we recently released a new edition of our newsletter, so be sure to check it out And hit up our Patreon too while you’re at it. Alright, enough with the ads—let’s get to it.
Produced by Missy Elliott & Kanye West | N/A
This is a simple one: The Throne Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s verses from “Otis” over “Potato Salad” by Tyler, the Creator and ASAP Rocky. Well I guess technically it’s them rapping over “Knock Knock” by Monica, but you get it. Also, while writing this I was reminded that Missy Elliott and Kanye actually produced “Knock Knock”.
Produced by The Alchemist | The Genuine Articulate
The Alchemist continues to be one of my favorite producers, and his latest project, The Genuine Articulate, is further proof of why. I chose the track “Details,” featuring Larry June, mainly because it was used in a reel on our Instagram page. You’re welcome.
Produced by Zach Ezzy, Jack Dine, SAINT MINO, & Adam Krevlin | N/A
Sailorr recently went viral for her From The Block performance of “Pookie’s Requiem.” And yes, she does sound a lot like SZA—but honestly, I don’t care because I like the song.
I couldn’t find any interviews with Sailorr, but I did see my imaginary girlfriend Qui Yasuka explaining what Ohaguro is (the black grills Sailorr wears in the video). Based on that, I assume Sailorr is Japanese. Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye on her.
