Following a shooting and a three year stint in the bing, the president of Diplomat Records, Freekey Zekey releases his first solo album Book of Ezekiel. Freekey signed a one album deal with Asylum for the release of his first solo effort. After hearing his name shouted on albums for the last three years the public want to know more about the president. The albums “Intro” was very weak; Zekey has a terrible delivery. While his delivery is a constant problem throughout the whole album, it does have a few high spots. On the track with Cam’Ron and Juelz Santana titled “Daddy Back” where Juelz raps: “the women got that love for me/they love R Kelly/ and I love to pee!” “Hater What You Lookin At” is a respectable single. Then you have an ode to the Mary Jane with “Where the Dutch”. Then on “Streets” Zekey juggles the flow, but makes it easy on the ears. Notice: Freekey is not the best rapper by far, and it shows on this whole album. Songs like “Livin’ It Up”, “Like This”, “Fly Fitted”, and “Crunk’d Up” really put the nails in the coffin on his rap career. Songs like this are the reason why he is a hype man. He has no lyrical ability, bad sounding vocals, and horrendous hooks. All of this is the recipe for a bad album. Songs like “Killem Killem” is also where Santana spits some straight candy bars. Is it me or does Santana dumb his lyrics down when he is rapping with some of the Dipset rappers? Other tracks that are bad but you might want to listen to are “730 Dip Dip” featuring Jim Jones and “Bottom Bitch”.
Bottom Line:
This album should be the beginning and end to his career. Why did he do an album anyway? The beats that he gets don’t sound bad; he just shreds them with his terrible delivery. The man rides beats like a fat girl riding a fat dude…ain’t nothing happening! The cameos from the other Dipset members are garbage except the “Daddy Back”, which is almost there. This is one for the true Dipset fans. If you have never checked out the Dipset before, don’t listen to this, it makes the whole crew look bad. I did find the last skit to be hilarious.
