With an upcoming album, mixtape and possibly a track with Young Money star Drake, 2 Chainz is extending his time in the limelight while garnering a certain appeal among Hip-Hop fans and artists alike.
He’s been working hard reincarnating his career from his former alias Tity Boi by releasing mixtapes and featuring on tracks by big names like Nicki Minaj, DJ Drama and Kanye West. Many consider his verse on “Mercy”, the first single from West’s label G.O.O.D. Music’s collaboration album, to be the best on the track.
His dominance on the track is quite possibly the instigating factor in recent rumors of his possible signing to West’s label which is currently populated by Big Sean, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, John Legend and several more. Signing to G.O.O.D. Music wouldn’t be much of a surprise considering the fact that he considers West to be one of the most influential rappers in his career.
He was also rumored to sign with Young Money but instead partnered with Def Jam and created is own label named T.R.U.
In a recent interview, Drake explained his intentions of releasing songs with several artists including Meek Mill, Waka Flocka, and 2 Chainz before his upcoming Club Paradise tour. The tour begins on May 7 which makes the possible time frame for the new tracks within the next few weeks.
2 Chainz’ debut solo album, Based On A T.R.U. Story is set to release on August 14 of this year and is expected to impress. He claims that it won’t join in the trend of being delayed but may instead be released early judging by his work ethic. 2 Chainz fans shouldn’t be disappointed in 2012.
