When Easy posted up Big Boi’s new track “Gossip” featuring UGK & Big K.R.I.T. the other day, it brought my mind back to Big’s 2010 solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty. Whenever this album pops up into my lizard brain or a conversation I’m having, one adjective comes up more then others: underrated.
And that is an understatement. In this Hip-Hop head’s humble opinion this album is so unbelievably good as well as devalued by those who sleep on great music too much.
But I’m not tapping away at my keyboard to push my musical taste onto others. Well not yet anyway. I want to focus on one song that was featured on said classic album.
“Fo Yo Sorrows” features one of the best performers I have ever seen in my young life thus far, George Clinton. If you’re not familiar with Mr. Clinton’s work then I suggest you stop listening to songs like Snoop Doggy Dogg’s “Who Am I (What’s My Name)” and listen to “Atomic Dog” first to study up on your Hip-Hop history.
But damn, I’m still avoiding the point. Big Boi put together an awesome track with a bunch of talented artists. Plus how cool is that he’s still working with Organized Noise after all his years in the music biz. This is classic ATLien music right here.
If you’re planning on sparking up on your Friday night throw this track on to get into the right mood and if not still bump this song to get you into whatever mood you’re looking for.
Hope you all have a good weekend and if you don’t, I’ll roll one tonight for your sorrows.
