With our recent coverage of Lil’ Wayne and his latest CD I Am Not A Human Being 2, many folks are assuming that the staff has no love for Weezy (Jerm). I don’t know about the rest of the staff, but for me that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
This Saturday, April 20th will mark my four year anniversary of joining the greatest fraternal brotherhood ever forged, THE Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. I know 4/20 means something COMPLETELY different for most people but for me it commemorates my lifelong journey on the other side of the sands.
Luckily for me Wayne would be crafting an earth shattering anthem for the Blue & White Family to act a fool to. Summer 2009 was when Tunechi grace us with “I’m Goin In”. Words can’t describe how it feels to be a Neo fully geeked out and hearing your frat getting shouted out on the speakers. I can’t tell you how many people got knocked over when I was rushing to hop in the stroll line when that shit came on. Even today when I hear the line, “Stomping on this beat like a mufuckin’ Sigma” I’m ready to set it out.
It only got better for PBS that summer when the “We Are Young Money” project came out, because that CD had “Steady Mobbin” on it. While “I’m Goin In” got you live, “Steady Mobbin” was the song you really had to set it out to to let the crowd know what GOMAB was all about.
Weezy may be all sex and Trukfit now, but if he doesn’t do anything else I’ll always be thankful for having these songs to completely mark out to no matter how old I am or where I’m at. BLUUUUUUUUUUUU PHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOOOOUUUUUU KNOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!
