The Kings of Summer
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts ~ Release Date: May 31st, 2013

I think growing up, most kids have had the fantasy of building a house/fort out in the woods and living in it. That’s basically what The Kings of Summer is about; three teens run away from home and build a house in the woods (And shit happens like weird beards). Of course it’s a coming of age story; how could it not be? But it’s done charmingly and it had a great cast to go along with it. I had problems nailing down the year of which the film takes place. They show iPhones but what teenagers can be in the woods with no electronics for a month?

Notable Scene: That scene where the kids drum on a big metal pipe. It’s a reason they put it in all the trailers. Shout out to Biaggio.

Should you see it?: If you like Stand By Me then yes. It’s like that movie but without the dead body.
