Originally, I was going to post Lana Del Rey today, then I was conflicted with naming today’s post under the Alt-Day Sunday banner. I was checking under the “New Releases” section of Spotify and was surprised at one of the latest additions. Kacy Hill‘s debut album, Like A Woman was released this past Friday, June 30th. Ms. Hill, Jay-Z dropped his 13th studio album 4:44, I was on Genius reading the lyrics to “Marcy Me” in my best Hov voice, I wasn’t checking for anything else in music. The Phoenix, Arizona native has been on my radar since “90210” with her G.O.O.D. Music associate, Travis Scott, two years ago.
Last week, I enjoyed her single, “Keep Me Sane”, but was not aware that a full length project was coming soon. This might be my breaking moment with G.O.O.D. Music and its president, Terrence Thornton. If he wasn’t busy giving Vic Mensa a verse and not releasing King Push, maybe Desiigner and Cyhi could have release dates and Kacy Hill could get some promotion. Maybe they want the project to grow organically like Big Sean’s I Decided this year, but Big Sean has a fan base that has been growing since 2010. If Tyga gets top priority status at the G.O.O.D. offices this year, I’m going to rage. I’m going to let the vocals/visuals of the former American Apparel model slash Yeezus tour dancer distract me on this beautiful Sunday with this seductive video for an undeniably R&B song, not to be confused with an alternative genre label, produced by DJ Mustard, Terrace Martin, and DJ Dodger Stadium. Like A Woman is available now on streaming platforms! Enjoy!
