The young alternative pop star, formerly known as Ke$ha, has grown into a woman that has dealt with abuse and woes and has been adding religious elements into her music. We were blessed with “Praying” two years ago, a ballad dedicated to all of her abusers. This year, we are receiving, “Raising Hell” with Big Freedia. The video reminds me of HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones in the same vein as a send-up of Southern Baptist ministers that live different lives at homes than the ones they present to their parishioners.
The live performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! features both of the stars. For some reason, the Queen of Bounce is nowhere to be found in the video. Hopefully, not a continuation of the disrespectful trend started by Beyoncé and Drake. Kesha‘s forthcoming fourth album, High Road will be available January 2020.
