While driving home one night I heard a song on the radio that reminded me of another song. Some argue that sampling is the best example of laziness and uncreative artists. I argue that sampling introduces audiences new music and history. Think about how many kids are learning about Sting/The Police thanks to Juice World’s “Lucid Dreams”. Yes, I am also including Sting’s grandkids that will be put through college thanks to the success of “Lucid Dreams”.
Barry Manilow‘s “Trying To Get The Feeling” is sampled by Curren$y on one of my favorites from the new dad. “Showroom” from his sixth album, The Stoned Immaculate features production from Cardo (or Cardo Got Wings) utilizing the title track from Mr. Manilow’s 1975 3rd album. “Trying To Get The Feeling Again” is motivational music for any struggling to get back to their happiness. I dedicate this post to them. Happy Sunday!
