Dee-1
What if a Louisiana rapper was on the list? Hell yeah, I am going to vote for them. Thankfully, they made the choice to vote for a different type of rhymer we have seen before from the Boot. Let’s see: Dee-Uno has a college degree from LSU and he actually does not curse in his lyrics. Do not let these two facts make you think that he is a square or weird alien. He still represents his home of New Orleans in his music and videos, check out the song, “Master P”. Also, just because he does not curse does not mean he is wack by any means, it just means he is more likely to use better words than ‘fuck’ and ‘shit’ while telling stories in songs like, “It’s My Turn”,”Garden of Eden”, and “Blue”. The one man army released his project, The Focus Tape, to critical acclaim last year, but old fans know that success will not go to his head because he has already pointed out on “Writer’s Block” that if he does not like his own music than no one else will. Artists with this type of focus on changing negative stereotypes and views on the Hip-Hop culture deserve mainstream attention. Plus, having a Mannie Fresh co-sign only proves my point that while different he is a good example of what Louisiana Hip-Hop can produce.
