Chief Keef
2012 was a year that the 17 year old Chicago native will never forget. Chief Keef gained most of his recognition when the news of Kanye West remixing his internet sensation, “I Don’t Like” featuring Lil Reese. From there came his signing with Interscope records and the controversy. Many believed he was only “famous” because of Kanye West’s decision to co-sign the song, while other Chicago rappers and past Kanye collaborators, such as Rhymefest and Lupe Fiasco, have denounced Keef and his involvement in the gang lifestyle adopted by Chicago’s youth. The missed appearance at his own video shoot with Wiz Khalifa and 50 Cent mixed with his reaction to fellow Chicago rapper Lil’ Jojo’s death has made him an infamous bad boy. Young Sosa became the most negatively talked about young rapper since Soulja Boy. His year ended with the release of his album, Finally Rich, and his incarceration for parole violation thanks to an interview taking place at a gun range. We will see if he keeps it 3 Hunna in 2013.
