Macklemore
Some people would say that having Macklemore on a list of hottest MC’s would be like putting Flo-Rida, Pitbull, or even Psy of “Gangnam Style” fame on the list. The Heist, his album with production partner, Ryan Lewis, has been revered for its dark content and it sold very well as an independent project. I really do not see Flo-Rida or Pitbull doing songs with Ab-Soul or Schoolboy Q. If MTV’s list was based on sales, lyrics, intangibles, buzz, impact like making Goodwill and thrift store sales going up, like having your song used as the anthem for NBA’s All-Star Weekend than the Seattle, Washington resident should have been talked about for the list. If you have seen the video for “Thrift Shop” than you don’t even have to bring up style.
