Hottest MC List: The Unmentionables

Weezy

Lil’ Wayne
I really do not have much to say about Lil’ Wayne musically. Dedication 4 was a huge disappointment, the music that has been released before and after the DJ Drama mixtape has not resurrected the “Greatest Of All Time” debate that was spawned during the previous years of the Dedication series. Most of 2012 featured songs with Lil’ Wayne in constant rotation but he did not deliver as many scene stealing verses as listeners expected. Dj Khaled’s “Take It To The Head and The Game’s “Celebration” had lazy, phoned in verses from a man that wanted to skateboard more than being locked into a studio. For confirmation of his laziness, check his own songs in 2012. “No Worries” and “My Homies Still” featured rhymes about nonsense such as pussy and Trukfit; the same two subjects that Weezy has rhymed about all year long.

Everyone thought that a spark had ignited in the former Hot Boy after Pusha T’s diss record, but all we got was “Goulish”. You know you fell off lyrically when your own opponent does not even want to respond to you anymore. Wayne was once known as the best thing in the music industry to happen to your song if you want more people to listen to it, but hat magic has worn off. I feel sorry for Mystikal, Robin Thicke, Keyshia Cole, and Bobby V. All of their songs could have been bigger if they did not really on the 2012 version of Lil’ Wayne to lift their status. Oh well, at least his clothing line/fashion choices, YMCMB fam, love life and antics keep him hot, unfortunately, it is not his own music.

Sidenote: I can admit I did like his part on “Pop That” and his verse on Mac Miller’s “The Question” and I’m not saying, but isn’t it weird how much the music and personality had changed all while Lil’ Wayne is supposedly sober.
