This was not a good album. I made it to the eighth song, “Beat The Shit” with Gunplay and had to take a break. I could not believe that one of my favorites was pushing this bulls*!t on me as a listener. There were times when I really thought this was an elaborate prank on the Fronation. “This can’t be the album” was my main thought as I got closer to the end and had to listen through more songs of pussy, drugs, guns, and nothing else even worth mentioning. He says he is not a human being, but this album is pretty basic.
“IANAHB” is the intro track, but after listening to this album, I say TGFJJ. Thank God for Juicy J, because he and Mike Will Made It, with his lone contribution, “Bitches Love Me”, had the best production on the project. The Juice Man’s verses have been popping up everywhere lately, but his producing skills are showcased as he produced two of my five favorite songs on the album, “Gunwalk” & “Trippy”. Cool and Dre should also be mentioned for producing great records, “Days and Days”, “God Bless Amerika”, and “Hot Revolver”. It is too bad that besides, “Hot Revolver”, those records featured lyrics that did not go with the song title or even the chorus. As much as I am mad at Lil’ Wayne for his basic lyrics and very limited subject matter, I am also angry at Soulja Boy for his appearances on the album. I expected his feature on “Trigger Finger” to be sub-par and it was, but his production on “Wowzers” was unexplainable. He has been around since 2008 and still cannot make a decent beat. That is a shame.
This project is no different than other albums with the best songs being the bonus tracks. Nicki Minaj had the best verse on the whole album with her appearance on, “Lay It Down” with lines such as “It’s all a part of my vision, I sit and count this money while I watch you bitches audition”. This is funny and relevant to her life because she is a judge on American Idol. Lil’ Wayne is not a pistol toting, drug junkie without any worries like he claims to be. I wanted him to lose the gangsta and drug character he has been playing, but that did not help make the better either. I never want Lil’ Wayne to make another song about relationships again. “Back To You”, is unrealistic “Hello”, is the same style heard on Mario’s “Crying Out For Me” remix where Lil’ Wayne reenacts a phone conversation, this time it’s three phone conversations ending the same way, and the crown jewel of all love songs on this album, “Romance” which is just hard to explain without telling people to go listen to it first. All of those songs are unbelievable attempts of sharing himself to women. I think Wayne came up with the idea that he could say the most horrible things to a woman if he says, “That’s Romance” at the end. I was offended for women and I take pity on the women that have relationships with men that use that song as the anthem for their relationships.
My favorites (AKA tolerable): “Rich As Fuck”, “Gun Walk”, “Trippy”, “Bitches Love Me”, & “Hot Revolver.”
