Coming from a long time Cash Money fan from their underground days I can say that CMR as a whole went through many up’s and down’s. From being a gangsta bounce label to whatever you call it now is a significant change. Lil’ Wayne been the center of attention for over a decade now due to his swag *I hate using that word* and his ability to reach the masses. Baby called it in the late 90’s when he said in the year 2000 it will be all about Wayne. Well he was off by a few years since Wayne didn’t get hot until ’04 when he released Tha Carter but hey he wasn’t off by too much.
I wasn’t really interested in listening to I Am A Human Being Part 2 since I didn’t really like the first one but after listening to all of the songs including the bonus tracks, it wasn’t that bad but not great. My favorite songs off this album is “Gunwalk”, “Rich As Fuck”, and “Trippy” with Juicy J (One of the GOATS). 2nd time Juicy J & Lil Wayne collab since 1999’s “Playa Why You Hatin” with Tear Da Club Up Thugs (DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, & Juicy J) and The Hot Boys/Big Tymers. Apparently he still trying to be a rock star since he have a couple Rock inspired songs on here where he tries to sing, smh. I love rock music but when Wayne does it I don’t feel it at all.
Overall I’ll probably forget about this album except for a few songs in the next week or so since it’s typical just like a lot of albums that are being released this year but Wayne do have that extra something that make his music stand out. One of the drawbacks on this album is that he barely have a song by himself like many people do nowadays. Artist are becoming more lazier. 2nd drawback is why he put Soulja Boy on the album? I’ll rather for him to put SB on the hook (if that). With that being said this album get a 2.5 from me it would have got a 3 but the Soulja Boy feature took it down a notch.
