“I am the beast, feed me rappers or feed me beats”. This was one of Wayne’s many proclamations that he was just better than anyone else. This statement was made sometime between Tha Carter II and Tha Carter III. This statement was made when Wayne felt like he wasn’t getting his just due in the game. This statement came when we thought Hip-Hop was dead, and Wayne disagreed because he felt HE was Hip-Hop. This statement came, frankly, when Wayne gave a fuck! He doesn’t anymore! You disagree? Listen to IANAHB2 and tell me this is a project created by an artist who is in anyway focused. You can’t! I made the mistake of being in the Wayne hype in 2011 when I wrote the review for Tha Carter IV. I gave that album 4 stars, and boy was I wrong. That was the only time in my nappyafro history when people were killing me in the comment section, and I knew I had made a mistake. As bad as that album was, however, in my mind I continued to give Wayne a pass because I chalked it up to rust. It was the first album he had recorded since being in prison. Now, I have listened to this album 7 (no typo) times and I can’t find one song that makes me think he is even trying. What’s bad is there were rumors just two weeks ago that Wayne was going to pass away. Is this really how any artist wants to be remembered? This album is scattered brained, boring, lazy, unmotivated, not worth the money, and not even worth the download. Wayne, you can do better, but if you refuse to, please just avoid the studio from here on. I don’t want to hear what you have to say, if you don’t even care enough to think about what you have to say. I have been hard on Jay-Z for the last 2 weeks, but he isn’t the only Mr. Carter who sounds like he has fallen off. R.I.P. Weezy F. Baby.
