I know that many people love this album, but in all honesty I’m extremely disappointed in this album. Don’t misunderstand, I think it has great music on here. The lyricism on this album isn’t just good, but it’s great. I’m not complaining about the music, but I am not happy about the way this conceptual album turned out. This album was stated by Cole to be a story about corruption. Although this is attempted to be a continuous theme on the album, it seems to take more of a backseat. Then there are some weird moments on the album too. Was it just me or does Cole actually diss Hov on this album at least three times? Maybe it’s me, but after listening to Cole’s other bodies of work (Warm Up & Friday Night Lights) this seems like a disappointment. I’m ready for him to take the next step and give the world a complete and cohesive body of work.
