Lauryn Hill – The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
1998 ~ Ruff House/Columbia Records
While folks are split about whether Nicki Minaj is an adequate face for female Hip-Hop, most folks still miss the Lauryn Hill of old. While Miseducation came out over 16 years ago it still holds up as one of the best albums of all time. It doesn’t hurt that the record had a classic cover to go along with it. The wood etched portrait of Hill fits right in to the Neo-Soul and Hip Hop sensibilities that she so easily mastered on this album. Simple, yet profound; folks always commented and appreciated the former Fugees songstress’s around-the-way-girl vibe, and that vibe is definitely captured with this cover.
