Janelle Mone – Dirty Computer
Release Date: April 27, 2018
Ms Monae had some pressure with the release of her third album. She took a break to focus on her acting career and she left on a really high note five years ago with her last release, the highly revered, The Electric Lady. Dirty Computer came two years after her mentor, Prince passed, but not before he left his Purple influence on the album that showcased a new level of sexuality comfort in mainstream music.
The album is not good because its main artist is Pansexual, it’s good because she doesn’t give a fuck about who doesn’t like it or approves. Major props for using Bishop TD Jakes for the album closer, “Americans” to share her dream of having a good woman in the kitchen just as well as any “Red-blooded Amurican”. The writing is mind-blowing, the production is incredible. (SHE GOT ORGANIZED NOISE FOR “I Like That“!!!), and of course, the visuals will make you say, “DAAAAAMMMMNNNN”, if you haven’t seen her emotion picture yet. Welcome back, Ms Monae, thank you for reintroducing yourself.
