To pay respect to Chadwick Boseman today after his untimely passing, I choose to revisit his turn as the “Godfather of Soul.” 2014’s Get On Up featured an incredible performance by Boseman that captured the spirit of James Brown on and off the stage. Enjoy his performance of the classic 1966 single dedicated to women around the world from James Brown and his co-writer, Betty Jean Newsome.
The above clip ends with a snippet of “Please, Please, Please,“ the song that introduced James Brown and the Famous Flames way back in 1956. Here is the live performance from their appearance on The T.A.M.I. Show in 1964.
Prayers, Peace, Love, and Blessings to the family and friends of Chadwick Boseman. Thank you, Chadwick, for every moment and memory we have watching you that we will have forever.
Long Live The King.
