My first concert of 2023 was Kali Uchis’ Red Moon in Venus tour. I was really excited for this show because I’ve been a fan of Kali for years, and I was looking forward to her opening act. British singer RAYE released her debut album in February after battling label and personal issues that inspired My 21st Century Blues. M21CB is one of the best albums I’ve heard so far this year, but it was her appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk that made me anticipate seeing her live.
Unfortunately, I missed RAYE’s set when the tour made its stop in North Texas. Sidenote: Kali Uchis is amazing. Can you believe her mic was on the whole time? Anyway, Ms. Raye takes us and Coi Leray on a double-decker bus ride depicting a tumultuous relationship in the video for “Flip The Switch.”
