I’m not sure, but I think Young Thug is the first rapper to wear a dress on the cover of a album mixtape that went on to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Thugger’s Jeffery lands at #8 this week and sold around 37,000 units. This makes the third time this year that Young Thug has had a project in the Top 25; Slime Season grabbed the #7 spot back in April and I’m Up grabbed the #22 spot back in February.
Frank Ocean‘s Blonde, which was #1 last week, fell to #5 and sold 67,000 copies.
De La Soul‘s new album and the Anonymous Nobody, which was made possible via Kickstarter, landed at #12 and sold 23,000 copies.
Barbra Streisand notched her 11th #1 album with Encore (149,000 units sold) and extends her record for the most #1 albums among women and 3rd overall (Sidenote: Jay-Z has more with 13 #1 albums. Just saying). I didn’t know Barbra Streisand still made music but I do know she has enough pull to change the way Siri pronounces her name. Congrats Babs.
After performing at the MTV Video Music Awards last week, Beyonce‘s Lemonade saw a 106% percent jump in sales and is back in the Top 10 at #7.
Travis Scott‘s new album Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight is expected to sell around 100,000 units and grab the #1 spot next week.
