The Numbers Game: Sade Still #1

No debuts this week, but we do get to see how strong the fan support is for Sade as Solider Of Love holds on to the #1 spot for the 3rd straight week. I guess the attention turns to next week as DJ Khaled’s latest album Victory debuts. Any sales predictions?

  1. Khaled’s album will either flop or sell surprisingly better than usual. My prediction is 100,000-150,000

  2. I’ll give Khaled around 39,000 for first week sales (and that’s being generous). That reported number will make his album title look so stupid as well as a song named “All I Do Is Win”, Ha! Remix or not, that album doesn’t have the staying power to last until the summer. He has basically already released the 3 strongest songs (“All I Do Is Win”, “Fed Up”, “Put Ya Hands Up”) on the album as singles to little or modest fanfare from the public, I don’t think there are any other songs on the album or remixes to those 3 songs that could give this album the legs to make it to the summer. Plan and simple, his album ain’t strong enough to do damage. If his album is overlooked and doesn’t sale, it won’t be hard to see why.

Damn, Sade ain’t playing around still being #1 and on the brink of platinum status. Not hard to see why given it’s Sade and she had the Smooth Jazz and Adult Contemporary genres locked during her prime in the game. Artists need to be studying BEP and their moves cause 2x platinum nowadays is a rare feat in itself. Still haven’t listened to a single tracks off ‘The E.N.D.’ (fitting title) but something must be good about it. Got my fingers crossed for some albums on that list to not reach Gold and some to achieve that status (since 500,000 now marks an album as successful).
