Since it wasn’t that long ago when I said that my excitement of listening Ludacris rap just wasn’t what it use to be, it made since that I check out his new mixtape released earlier today called 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time. While the 1.21 Gigawatts didn’t exactly change my thoughts about Ludacris’ current state in Hip-Hop, it did show that he’s far from done. There are a few dull moments but songs such as the “Intro” remind me of the Luda of old. Plus in just 12 tracks Ludacris gets features from Big K.R.I.T., Waka Flocka, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Gucci, Wiz Khalifa, & Rick Ross. Not bad right?
One interesting this to look out for is track #6, “Badaboom”. You remember a year ago when Big Sean kinda dissed Ludacris for misusing the “Hastag flow” on “My Chick Bad”? Do you also remember when Drake later did the same thing? Obviously Luda remembered because he uses “Badaboom” to go in on Sean (The song also samples Fifth Element. Nice).
