No Release Date: Artists Who Are Taking Too Long To Drop An Album

YMCMB

YMCMB
Tyga’s album came out in February. Nicki Minaj’s album was released in April and the re-release of that same album was in November. There are 6 months between April and November, but no Young Money or Cash Money artist had an album that could have been released? Well, DJ Khaled released Kiss The Ring, but no one really cared. This whole article could have been about them but I’m going to try and keep it short.

Shanell – This year, She released her mixtape, Nobody’s Bitch and released her single, “So Good” with Lil’ Wayne & Drake providing verses and a Birdman appearance in the video minus the infamous handrub.

Bow WowSweat featuring Lil’ Wayne? Nope. An inspirational joint with T-Pain on the hook for all strippers in college with kids? Almost. An uninspired club song with production from the producer that only makes club song? It seems like Bow Wizzle can not get anyone to focus on his music. His baby mama drama, thoughts of suicide, and financial trouble are the only thing people are interested in these days. Hopefully, this does generate a lot more people to tune into 106 & Park.

Busta RhymesReleased an online album for free download, but still did not really capitalize off the buzz from his verse on Chris Brown’s song.

Jae Millz – We got a mixtape and a minor Pusha T diss. Maybe Wayne should have let YMCMB perform at Summer Jam last year; at least for the Harlem rapper could perform in front of his hometown.

Gudda Gudda – Still riding with the team since the Sqad Up Days, Gudda Gudda has continued to show potential with the latest installment in his Guddaville series. Unfortunately, GX2 has yet to see a release date from Cash Money. Maybe he’ll have better luck in another group.

Lil’ Chuckee – Maybe I am a little bias because I am from the Boot state, but I want to see this New Orleans rapper make it. He has a hit record with another Louisiana rapper (That I hope has a successful 2013) that needs to be pushed and given a video, because “Da Wop” was a minimal.

Lil’ Twist – Where has he been? Probably in the studio with Cory Gunz.

Birdman – I still do not understand why he continues to release albums. I guess for all those that do not release their own album, writing for Birdman gets you some points and royalties from your deal with Cash Money. What happens when the CEO won’t even release an album is a bigger question? Since 2010, there have been singles released (“Loyalty”, “Fire Flame”, “I Get Money”, “Y.U. Mad”, and of course, “Born Stunna” ) but no album has materialized. Maybe Birdman can achieve his goal in 2013 to release albums from all 48 acts on his roster.

Oh yeah. Mystikal. Yes, I also forgot that Mystikal is signed to Cash Money.
