Being known as Kanye West’s go-to-producer would take up all the space on most people’s business card with hits like “Clique”, “Cold”, and that tune about balling so hard. Hit-Boy the producer even made time for Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj, but Hit-Boy the rapper was not satisfied was not satified with the music catalog of the HS87 CEO.The rapper turned producer turned rapper again had a busy 2012 behind the microphone; while he cut verses for former XXL freshmen Wale, and his G.O.O.D Music labelmate, CyHi The Prynce, the Fontana, California native found time to release his debut mixtape, HITStory. With seven of the eleven tracks self produced, most would expect that the production would have the most focus while the lyrics would be sub-par. Nay-sayers were proven wrong as the tracks feature him skillfully detailing influences, his rights and wrongs that lead him to write his songs, and his rise to a new position with new faces and all the new problems that come with them. This story is definitely far from finished.
