The Weeknd
His debut mainstream project, Trilogy, had strong opening numbers and was a packaging of his three mixtapes, House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence. All of which, were originally released in 2011 to critical acclaim over the internet. 2012 featured the Toronto native’s song, “Wicked Games” living on radio throughout the latter half of the year. The same way he commanded radio is the same way he took control of other people’s records, notice how Mr. XO does not let anyone undermine him. The Weeknd’s features on songs involve him singing first and the main artist only having one verse. Drake’s “Crew Love” and Wiz Khalifa’s “Remember You” make you think that they are the features. The trend continues in 2013 with Juicy J’s new song, “One of Those Nights.” He seems to have a vision for him and his music and in 2013 he will finally release new music for everyone
