First Impressions: The 50 Best Hip-Hop Intro Tracks

37. Murs – “You & I”
Produced By Tate The Example ~ Album: The End of the Beginning (2003)

Murs has always been an impressive MC and first impressions always count. From track one of this album the bar is set high with Murs showcasing his ability as an MC. And when I use the term ‘MC’ it’s meant to be taken in the sense that the guy knows how to spit and move the crowd all at once.

“You & I” creates a connection between Murs and his fans with him telling his audience all the things he goes through just to make music for them. This honesty and skill is heard throughout the entire album.

Cheers Murs.

Memorable Lines:

Now when I came to the game I was wet behind the ears
All I had was some raps that I wanted y’all to hear
Straight low budget I was underground thuggin’ it
You think I gave a fuck about a publicist? (NO!)
You think I gave a fuck if you dubbed this shit? (NO!)
