First Impressions: The 50 Best Hip-Hop Intro Tracks

40. Obie Trice – “Average Man”
Produced By Eminem ~ Album: Cheers (2003)

At the height of Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit’s fame some of the roster’s artist got lost in the tidal wave of platinum albums and number 1 hits. One of those artists was none other then Obie “Real Name No Gimmicks” Trice.

Not to say Mr. Trice didn’t have any success but ’03 was dominated by Curtis Jackson.

As Eminem’s haunting piano starts Obie wastes no time to get things cracking on the mic. With this strong, dark opening Cheers begins going down its’ dark path filled with stories from Detroit, confessionals, Eminem and 50 Cent cameos along with a brutal Ja Rule and Murder Inc diss (even Dre dropped a verse!).

Memorable Lines:

Hey yo I’m focused, it’s the locust
O. Trice is holding the soldiers, the prognosis
Probably why I rose from zero to hope
Cause I was wide eyed and open nosed on my approach
