5. Daniel Bryan
At this year’s WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan captured his first Intercontinental Championship in a brutal seven-man ladder match. Unfortunately Bryan had to relinquish the title due to a concussion he sustained in a match overseas in the UK just weeks after winning it. This is obviously very similar to what happened last year after Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30 but was forced to vacate the title due to neck issues.
With Daniel Bryan versus Kevin Owens there’s a great story. Bryan never lost the title since he had to vacate it meaning that he has a valid rematch clause he can cash in. And with both men being great in ring performers and Daniel Bryan being one of the greatest underdogs in WWE history along with Kevin Owens being the best bad guy right now, it could make a great and compelling storyline.
