R&B Sunday: Raphael Saadiq – “Good Man”

good-man

My weekend has been filled with a lot of episodes of Luke Cage. As I write this, I am two episodes from completion of season one. Cheo Hodari Hoker’s adaptation of the Marvel character started slow, but became necessary viewing after the end of episode three. As much as I’ve enjoyed the writing, acting, & visuals, the score has been making me check YouTube to find songs like Jidenna’s “Long Live The Chief”.

In episode one, one of the greatest R&B artists of ALL TIME appears and performs a song from his 2011 album, Stone Rollin’. I’ve seen and heard the music-video for “Good Man” before but watching him perform it made me appreciate it more and realize some of the instrumental was used for Curren$y’s “Drug Prescription”. Watch Luke Cage, appreciate Raphael Saadiq for the musical genius he is, and enjoy your Sunday!
