XXL just dropped the new Freshman Class for 2021. And while I still wonder if this is even necessary in this day and age, I will (again) show my age by going down the list. So let’s take a look at the rappers who made the 2021 XXL Freshman Class:
42 Dugg: Okay. We starting off on a good note because I actually have a few song by 42 Dugg in my iTunes Music app. And who doesn’t like “We Paid” with Lil Baby?
Iann Dior: And just like that, I’m old again. Nah. I don’t know this young man.
Coi Leray: Benzino’s daughter. I also know at least two songs by her: “Big Purr” and “No More Parties” (Although I think everybody prefers the Reese Youngn version right?).
Pooh Shiesty: I feel like Pooh Shiesty might be the biggest name on this list. “Back In Blood” has over a 100 million views and it was released this year. He is also always in jail too. A lot. He is in jail as of this writing.
Flo Milli: Flo Milli is a name I see all the time but have no music to connect with it. I know it’s a woman though.
Morray: I know who Morray is because of that video where he is in the project with the LRG shirt on. I remember people saying that he was an industry plant or something. He was also on J. Cole’s last album. Shout out to North Carolina.
Rubi Rose: I know who Rubi Rose is but I always get her mixed up with the actress that used to play Batwoman and was on Orange is the New Black. We follow her on Instagram but it’s not for music purposes.
BLXST: I still don’t know how to say his name but I remember a few years back he had a song that had Dr. Dre’s “Xxplosive” beat. That is all.
Toosii: I don’t know who this is.
Lakeyah: Other than being the forth woman on this list, I also don’t know who this is.
DDG: I feel like I know who this is. He was voted in by the fans for the last spot so probably not.
Looking back at last year’s list, it seems like XXL did a good job as some of those name blew up. What do you think of this year’s list? Check out the official announcement video below.
