Yea, I’d written off Nicolas Cage too. Then I saw The Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans (Plus the trailer to Kick-Ass but that’s another post). Surprisingly, The Bad Lieutenant is not the straight-to-DVD quality I was expecting. Cage, from his mannerism to his speech, does a superb job as the role of dirty cop Terrence McDonagh. It’s not only him though, Xzibit (As Big Fate) has his best performance not pimpin’ out broken down cars for 20 somethings. The rest of the cast consists of such actors Eve Mendes, Val Kimer, Jennifer Coolidge, & Brad Dourif. Check out the plot:
The main character is Terrence McDonagh, a New Orleans Police sergeant, who starts out as a good cop, receiving a medal and a promotion to lieutenant for heroism during Hurricane Katrina.
During his heroic act, McDonagh injures his back and later becomes addicted to prescription pain medication. McDonagh struggles with addictions and finds himself involved with drug dealer Big Fate, who is suspected of murdering a family of African immigrants.
So yea, The Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans wasn’t bad at all. Enjoy this edition of Friday Night ‘Fro.
