I wasn’t that excited about the next Netflix movie, Monster, based on the novel of the same name by Walter Dean Myers.
A talented teen implicated in a robbery-turned-murder fight for his innocence and integrity against a criminal justice system that’s already judged him.
Okay. Sounds interesting but maybe something I’ve seen before a few times already. Then I saw the trailer:
- Okay. It stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. who has been killing the last few years.
- Jefferey Wright and Jennifer Hudson are playing his parents? How old is Jennifer Hudson?
- The song that plays in the Monster movie trailer is “Devil That I Know” by Jacob Banks. Gives the clip a melancholy vibe.
- From Executive Producers by John Legend, Nasir ‘Nas’ Jones, and Jeffery Wright? Didn’t expect that.
- Speaking of which, didn’t expect to see A$AP Rocky show in the trailer. As a thug.
- That goes for John David Washington too. Also playing a thug.
- Nasir Jones also shows up as a prisoner too.
Okay. I’m in. Monster drops on Netflix on May 7th.
