Yea, it seems like 50 Cent in going to get his ass handed to him by Kanye in the battle of first week album sales. Not that I have a problem with that. Even though I didn’t get to review Curtis (King Jerm got to do it here), I didn’t think it was as bad as people were saying. I actually liked it. I did get to review Kanye’s Graduation though and I liked it better. But besides that, one of the things I noticed about both of the albums were the bonus tracks. Both bonus tracks were exceptionally good for both albums. Kanye West’s bonus track “Good Night” featuring Mos Def is way better than his other Mos Def callabo featured on Graduation, “Drunk & Hot Girls”. 50’s bonus track, “Smile (I’m Leavin’)”, is probably my favorite song off Curtis. Why? It finally goes through with the promise that Curtis was supposed to be more about Curtis Jackson than 50 Cent. It’s kinda prophetic since he’s said in recent interviews that he might be tired of rapping. The song actually shows 50 Cent in a light I think people would rather see sometimes (Remember how everybody loved his verse on “Hate It Or Love It”?). Plus it has this line:
I’m like Martin Luther King, people listen to me a lot, it’s “non-violent non-violent” till I’m hit with a rock, then its “Coretta fuck this! Go get me my glock!”
So today, since 50 got crushed by Kanye (Kanye West – 975,000, 50 Cent – 691,000), I’ll give him Song of the Week.
