J. Cole – “Work Out”

J. Cole said he was eyeing late summer for the release of his album and now it looks like he has a single to match the season. On “Work Out” Jermaine samples Kanye’s “Workout Plan” and even a little Paula Abdul. I can definitely see chicks breaking a sweat on the treadmills to this.

I probably won’t have this one on repeat but if this is the radio friendly single Roc Nation wanted, maybe we’re finally gonna get that album.

  1. Nigga ain’t never gon drop an album if he keep putting shit like this out for singles… You don’t gotta have basic lines to attract the commercial crowd, just basic concepts and a melody. This is wack.

    1. You making it sound like this song is terrible, he had some pretty good lines in here! And you might not have to have basic lines to attract the commercial crowd but they certainly seem to like them, Waynes only #1 song is Lolipop and Run This Town by Jay-Z charted much higher than some of his more lyrical songs.

    2. Never mind, I stood by the song until he started singing and going “oh, oh, oh” at the end… That’s about as wack as it gets

  2. yeah, this is not it at all *smelled a fart face*

wtf is that one sample, swear It sounds like this one cartoon dog….
or Juicy sped up yellin’ “shuthefuckup!”…

  3. He didin’t even sell out on this… It’s radio hits with more fun, inventive lyrics than this. He at least coulda dropped some “work out” metaphors for gods sake.

  4. At least Disgusting has a point behind it like “making fun of current rappers” shit. This is just…I don’t know. I can see people liking this, but I don’t personally.

But if Roc Nation is making him do this, they’re messing up dude’s music.

      1. I think that really depends on what the other tracks are. If this flows really well with the vibe of the album and there aren’t any other flaws, you might forgive Cole for this one.

But I actually don’t mind this song at all.

  5. This song wasn’t super wack until the singing part. Smh! I feel like people hyped J Cole up too much for disappointment. I expected a much more thought provoking song than this.

    1. “I feel like people hyped J Cole up too much for disappointment.”

thats what I was warning folk about when he first came out.
when you hype someone as the Second Coming, theres nowhere to go but down.

I prefer to take the “I recognize your talent, now prove to me over time that you’re really great” route myself.

at the moment The Nets are currently doing this it to Kreyshawn. and she hasnt even done anything yet, lol

      1. My point exactly. I’m sure if people read my post I made on previous J Cole postings I always felt like he was overrated and I always thought people was blowing him up for no reason. Dude is good I’ll say that. I like Curren$y a lot though, he have his own thing going and it work for him
