Concert Review: 2013 Paid Dues Festival

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
I’ve been to plenty festivals and I’d have to say this year’s Paid Dues had a much younger audience. The majority of them were there to see Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Macklemore came out with high energy and was doing all he can to put on a good show. When he played “Thrift Shop”, people lost their mind. It was probably one of the loudest performances of the night. However, after “Thrift Shop”, the energy was not quite the same from the crowd. No disrespect, but I felt that a lot of his fans only knew “Thrift Shop”, so they were a little lost when he played other gems like “Otherside” and “White Walls”. Ryan Lewis did a lot of dancing, but not much mixing behind the ones and twos. The duo also brought out Talib Kweli. Overall, it was still a very solid set.

Set List:

“Thrift Shop”
“Same Love”
“Wing$”
“Otherside”
“Can’t Hold Us”
“White Walls”
“Irish Celebration”
Plus more

Overall Grade: B+
