Did I feel obligated to make 12 Years a Slave my #1 movie of 2013? Maybe. I don’t know. But I do think that when Spike Lee was talking shit about Django Unchained, he probably wished it looked like this. This was the only movie last that almost brought a tear to my eye. Almost. It’s the most important movie of 2013 and you should see it if you haven’t.
