Lord, Lord, Lord! Gil Scott Heron asked “Who will survive in America?” in his 1970 poem, “Comment #1”. I wonder if anyone is going to make it to 2017. After a struggle with pancreatic cancer, the cowardice illness silenced one of the best voices to ever be recorded, Miss Sharon Jones this past Friday, November 18. At the age of 60, she had a career filled with struggle and missed opportunities that I’m sure only inspired her to make better music.
