Nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day more than arguably The Notorious B.I.G.‘s nastiest song*. And when we talk about “One More Chance” today, we are not talking about the smoother and radio-friendlier remix. This Song of the Week refers to the album version from 1994’s Ready to Die.
From the guaranteeing to fuck a woman “until her nose bleed” or threatening to “shatter your bladder” and “make your kidney shift”, this is the Black Frank White at his filthiest. The song even starts with Biggie’s daughter changing her father’s voicemail message to say, “All you hoes calling here for my daddy, get off his dick” (We are all to assume she was put up to do this by the baby’s mother).
I don’t know if you should be like me and add “One More Chance” to your 2023 Valentine’s Day Bedroom playlist, but if you already have songs on there like Trina’s “Look Back At It” or BRS Kash’s “Throat Baby” (Again, like me), you might as well. Happy Valentine’s Day.
