Songs of the Week: 50 Cent, T.I., Jake One, & Little Brother

Once again I’m doing Song of the Week, and once again, I can’t choose one singular song. Well, this week we have a spectrum of different Hip-Hop to counter this. First up, earlier this week, 50 Cent released a track off his upcoming Before I Self Destruct called “Get Up”. 50 hooks up with Scott Storch to deliver an…okay song. It’s not that it’s a bad song but I’m definitely sure this will not be a single. I just feel that at this point in 50 Cent’s career, he needs to make an album more in the vein of “Smile (I’m Leavin’)” than “Ayo Technology”.

Also this week, T.I. made news by selling almost 600,000 copies of Paper Trail. And even though the bonus tracks from that album have been floating around for a minute, I just wanted to point out that if those track had been on the official album, I don’t know if H20 would have slapped that 4.5 on Paper Trail. Just my opinion.

And last but not least, it seems that Jake One’s new album, White Van Music,  has the readers and staff debating on whether it should get reviewed or not. I personally can see both sides; the album itself is awesome but reviewing compilations are a pain in the ass. Either way, that track featuring Little Brother (“Bless The Child”) is awesome. For those who haven’t heard the album, check out the sample.
