I don’t side with Kanye West in that the 2nd verse of “New Slaves” is the best rap verse of all time (Or as Yeezy put it: OF ALL TIME IN THE HISTORY OF RAP MUSIC, PERIOD), but I do think it’s by far the best verse on the song. Even if you overlook that it’s about as twice as long as the first verse, the fact that the verse references The Waterboy, the New World Order, and CCA all in the same breath should be applauded alone. Hell, the fact that it probably made some kids Google CCA is also pretty crazy in itself.
The first verse on “New Slaves” is great and starts off things right, but it’s the second verse, and basically the main verse of the song, that is the climax and main event of “New Slaves”. It’s in the second verse where Kanye repeats lines over and over again like a insane war chant (“I see the blood on the leaves”). It’s in the second verse where life imitates art (Didn’t we just see him actually smash a paparazzi’s recorder?) And probably most importantly, it’s in the second verse where Kanye spazzes the fuck out.
Y’all niggas can’t fuck with Ye. The second verse wins.
