Dear White People

Dear White People
Directed by Justin Simien ~ Released Date: January 18, 2014 (Sundance Film Festival)

Since I watched the concept trailer nearly two years ago, I have been anticipating this film from first-time writer/director Justin Simien. Dear White People has been described as a satire of race relations taking place on a college campus full of Post-Obama/Millennial generation students. Starring Tyler James Williams as Lionel, The Token, Tessa Thompson as Sam, The Rebel, Brandon P Bell as Troy, The Poster Child, and Teyonah Parris as Coco four distinctly different interpretations of Black students, according to the poster, not the concept trailer starring different actors. Since it’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this January, critics have raved about the film and it has won the festival’s U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent. With the buzz and accolades the Indiegogo-financed project is expected to be distributed through a major studio for wide release.
