I’ve been listening to a lot of good R&B lately, even getting a few gym workouts in to R&B music. I know that’s weird but I wouldn’t be Saule Wright if I didn’t do something odd. I plan on reviewing a few of these new albums including the new one by Dave Hollister…I also want this to serve as a reminder as to why Dave is so dope.
As the lead vocalist for Blackstreet, Dave provided us with albums of consistency and beautiful music. On songs like “Before I Let Go” he finesses the simple goodbye into something great. He has an easily distinguishable sound and some of the most unforgettable songs. It’s not all roses without thorns either. I’ll get into some of his other songs later, but this week’s Soulection is reserved for the aforementioned track. Fellas, grab ya ladies (before you tell them to get out) and press play.
