Cast of Me, and Earl, and The Dying Girl (Olivia Cooke, Thomas Mann, and RJ Cyler)
I’m kind of surprised no one spoke up for Me and Earl and the Dying Girl being snubbed from the Oscars this. With Room, Brooklyn, Carol, and Joy being nominated, I thought this film about a white girl with a problem would fit in with the nominees. Olivia Cooke from Bates Motel (Season four starts this month!) plays Rachel, our white girl with the problem, that problem being terminal cancer, hence the title. The film follows the main character, Greg, played by Thomas Mann, enjoying the most of their friendship during the dark period of her life. Earl, played by RJ Cyler in his first feature film role, is Greg’s best friend bringing him back to reality whenever Greg becomes too delusional and isn’t focused on reality.
Cooke plays Emma on the critically acclaimed, popular drama Bates Motel and will be seen in the upcoming films, Katie Says Goodbye, and the horror film, Limehouse Golem.
Mann will be starring in the 80’s true Ivy League college drug dealing story, The Preppie Connection, and the romance Some Freaks, co-starring with Chloe Grace Moretz in the drama, Brain On Fire, and filming 2017’s Kong: Skull Island.
Cyler, currently filming the Power Rangers reboot, will appear in the Brad Pitt Afghanistan War satirical film, War Machine coming to Netflix and the HBO comedy, Vice Principals.
