5 Superstars Who Could Have Attacked Hideo Itami

Finn Bálor

1. Finn Bálor

Finn Bálor was scheduled to compete in the triple threat match to crown a new number one contender for the NXT Championship, which was then changed to a singles match for the number one contendership. And much like Tyler Breeze, Finn Bálor had a lot to gain by taking out Hideo Itami.

Finn would go on to defeat Tyler Breeze at TakeOver: Unstoppable and become the new number one contender for the NXT Championship. Finn would later defeat Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship in Hideo’s home country of Japan and go on to become the longest reigning NXT Champion in history holding the title for 293 days.

In storyline it makes a lot of sense for Finn Bálor to have taken out Hideo Itami and seems like a perfect fit. Itami having to sit out injured and watch the man who he helped bring in to NXT gain success after taking out his “friend”. And it certainly creates a good story to be told between the two, and at the same time creates a great opportunity to turn Finn Bálor heel and even bring him up to the main roster.

Bottom Line:
If NXT does reveal who attacked Hideo Itami, then Finn Bálor seems like the logical choice to go with. Giving Finn a chance for his character to expand and show a different side to himself would be highly beneficial for him and could also be a great way to shake up the current landscape of NXT.

Hopefully we do see this storyline finally play out, hopefully it plays out better than who ran over Stone Cold Steve Austin.
