Black Sitcoms To Enjoy Instead Of Watching Black Trauma Porn

Mixed-Ish/Grown-Ish
ABC/FREEFORM

Kenya Barris gets Lena-levels of criticism on Black Twitter for the skin tone of his casts, similar themes across his “Ish-Universe,” and just the existence of Black AF. Fortunately, he created two shows that I happily watch on a regular basis. I love sitcoms focused on young people dealing with problems of the world with their microscopic views of the world. The college set world of Zoe Johnson just finished its 3rd season and will return immediately with season 4 this summer. The 80’s world of future Dr. Rainbow Johnson has been prematurely canceled after the completion of its second season. I will be checking out the last season of Black-Ish and Old-Ish because I like Jennifer Lewis and Laurence Fishbourne, but Brown-Ish, I’m going to skip, Kenya. I still got On My Block and Gentified to enjoy.
